On Thursday, November 5, Terra 203 is joining a group of design-trade brands for an evening built around one idea: light changes the way we see color, texture and beauty, in a room and in ourselves. If you are an interior designer working in Palm Beach County or anywhere in South Florida, you are invited. The evening runs from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at The Lutron Lofts, 401 Capital Street in Jupiter, Florida.
What the evening is about
The program mixes a few things designers rarely get to experience in the same place: color analysis, makeup, light, cocktails and conversation. The common thread is how a change in light shifts what we see. A skin tone, a paint chip, a stone slab and a handwoven rug can all look like different objects at 10 AM and at 7 PM.
Color analysis is offered by appointment and spots are limited, so RSVP early if you would like one. The rest of the evening is open: walk the space, see the lighting at work, talk with the brands and meet other designers from the area.
Why light matters when you specify an area rug
A rug is the largest textile in most rooms, and it sits where light lands: under windows, beneath pendants, beside lamps. Natural fibers make that relationship even more visible. Fique, wool and baby alpaca each reflect light in their own way, and a metal accent thread in copper or stainless steel can look bright in direct sun and almost disappear in warm evening light.
That is why we suggest approving rug colors under the lighting the room will actually have. A cream that looks clean in a daylight showroom can lean yellow under warm lamps, and a grey can turn cool and flat under cooler light. If a client's home is on a dimmed, warm scene most evenings, the rug should be chosen for that scene, not only for the afternoon walkthrough.
